In any case, the proof reader will need to have a quiet location to work, free from family and household chores. This is work, not just a hobby, after all.
It is also important that the proofreading that is done is done completely and accurately. In order to build a freelance career in the proof reading field, proof readers will need to provide good work every time. This is very important as they will often get more work through the same individuals. Or, the individuals can offer referrals or testimonials for additional work at a later date.
