Pediatric Occupational Therapist Jobs

When I got my Master's in Occupational Therapy with a concentration on pediatrics I was so excited to look for pediatric occupational therapist jobs. I knew that the internet was going to be a terrific resource for jobs and because I was so young I had the ability to move where the work was located. For me the main issue was what type of facility did I want to work in. Many jobs are located in hospitals and believe it or not I am not a big fan of hospitals.

The other option that I discovered for finding jobs in pediatric therapy was through agencies that hire out qualified therapists. They basically recruit us to work for their clients. The agency I spoke with offered a nice bonus if I signed with them. They also had jobs located in long term care facilities, private homes, as well as hospitals and other locations. They would contract a therapist out for a certain period of time in some cases and that would mean I would have a bit more variety and flexibility but some of the jobs could require me to move during the contract. Pluses and minuses needed to be weighed here...

However, being a certified pediatric therapist meant that finding work should not be a problem for me. I had an excellent GPA of 3.75 in school and that is good in this very competitive industry. Getting this advanced degree was not easy and I have worked very hard to reach this point. I have always wanted to work with children so pediatric occupational therapy jobs will fulfill that goal for me in or out of a hospital setting.

On the plus side finding options for jobs in hospitals will allow me to work in one place with many different children. Depending on the hospital I could have state of the art facilities and that would be really terrific. Depending on the location of the facility I have read that pediatric occupational therapist jobs pay pretty well. Some posting in hospitals show salary ranges of between $70,000-$85,000. I am new so I would be at the lower end of the range and those jobs were in metropolitan cities. Either way if I am in a smaller community making a bit less it will cost less to live there.
